Nursing Supervisor - Full or Part-time
Schedule: Rotating day and overnight shifts, every 3rd weekend, and rotating holidays. Willing to consider full or part-time

Reports To: Director of Nursing

Position Summary: The Nursing Supervisor provides direct guidance and supervision of the nursing staff. Promotes and maintains quality patient care through effective management of services during his/her assigned shift. Reports to the Director of Nursing and assists in the functional responsibilities of the department by providing input regarding clinical situations and staff performance.

Essential Functions:
• Monitor’s staffing levels, adjusts as needed; maintains department productivity.
• Assists with direct patient care as needed. Helps meet other departmental demands as needs arise. Helps cover for breaks.
• Manages Operations when Director of Nursing and CEO are not present or available, after hours. Contacting DON or Administration as needed with emergent situations.
• Manages Emergency Situations and responds to all code and emergency situations. Directing staff as the situation requires. In the event of a disaster acts as incident command until can be relieved by the designated commander.
• Acts as a liaison with patients, visitors, physicians, hospital staff and outside agencies.
• Handles Data Collection
• Collaborate with the Providers
• Provides clinical support through mentoring, teaching, and coaching for front line staff.
• Communicates with other departments and updates them about changes in patient condition.
• Assists with discharge planning and coordination of patient care. In the absents of UR coordinator ensures that CMS, Medicaid, and Private Insurance requirements are being meet. Ensures signatures are being obtained and forms properly complete patient certifications, consents, etc.
• Rounds on patients and/or with the provider.
• Assists provider with determining criteria need for admission status. Oversees admissions, dismissals, and transfers. Ensures that EMTALA guidelines are followed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Must possess a current RN license in the State of Nebraska. Three to five years prior experience in clinical nursing preferred. Experience as a nursing supervisor in a clinical nursing setting preferred. Must possess current BLS at time of hire. ACLS, PALS, NRP, and TNCC certification required within first year.
