AMH’s 2023 Caring Kind Award Winner


Diane Landers, outreach clinic coordinator, is the 2023 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital. She was recognized for the award on Tuesday, May 9th during National Hospital Week.

Each year, the Nebraska Hospital Association honors employees from hospitals across the state as “Caring Kind” employees. The honored employee must exemplify the spirit of someone who gives that “something special” to others.

Diane was nominated and selected by her fellow AMH employees to win this prestigious award. Her nomination reflected the many positive qualities she brings to work each day. She has been employed at AMH for over two years, beginning in patient services. A year ago, she began serving as AMH’s outreach clinic coordinator in the surgery department.

Diane’s nomination describes her as having a friendly and inviting personality. She is one of the most genuine and kind people at AMH. Her scheduling in the surgery/OP department is top-notch. She goes out of her way to ensure patients are scheduled with the appropriate specialist in a timely manner. No matter where she’s going, she takes the time to greet you and spend a brief moment - before moving on to her next task. She works well with others and stays on top of things to provide the best possible care for our patients. She is the epitome of caring and kind and is well deserving of this award.

“I was very surprised and humbled to be chosen for this special award,” said Diane. “It truly touches my heart – as there are many employees at AMH who are deserving. I really enjoy my job and doing my part to help our patients receive the care they need. I consider it a privilege to work with so many wonderful people.”

Diane currently resides in her hometown of Elgin. She has two sons, Colton and Chase Dozler. Colton, and his wife, Katie, have a son, Thomas (age 6), and a daughter, Andie (age 2). Colton is a commercial cattle feed specialist. They reside near Belleville, Kansas. Chase and his wife, Casity, have two daughters, Payton (age 5) and Sutton (age 7 months). Chase is a linesman. They reside near Abilene, Kansas. Diane’s hobbies include visiting her family in Kansas and walking.

On Friday, October 20th, the Nebraska Hospital Association will host an award presentation at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in LaVista honoring Diane and other “Caring Kind Award” recipients in Nebraska.




AMH's 2022 Caring Kind Award Winner


Marvi Pruden, RN, floor nurse, nursing supervisor and infection control director, is the 2022 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital. She was recognized for the award on Wednesday, May 11th during National Hospital Week.

Each year, the Nebraska Hospital Association honors employees from hospitals across the state as "Caring Kind" employees. The honored employee must exemplify the spirit of someone who gives that "something special" to others. Marvi was nominated and selected by her fellow AMH employees to win this prestigious award. Her nominations reflected the many positive qualities she brings to work each day. She has been employed at AMH for seven years as a registered nurse, working on the floor. A year ago, she began serving as a nursing supervisor. In recent weeks, her role transitioned into infection control director.

Marvi's nomination describes her as having an infectious laugh and positive outlook - even when times are rough or work is stressful. Her witty sense of humor and gentle demeanor make her someone others look forward to working with. Her main priority is to give her patients the best care possible. This is reflected by the way she treats them with respect. She's also confident in her abilities and not afraid to ask questions. She puts her patients at ease with witty banter and off-the-wall jokes. She truly has all the qualities of an exemplary nurse and caring and kind employee.

"I'm humbled and honored to be chosen for this special award - for what I enjoy doing," said Marvi. "I like to make people laugh and smile and to provide care for others. It's very rewarding and fulfilling.

Plus, I love working here! I enjoy AMH's warm environment and the people I work with, added Marvi. We truly support one another - it's like having a second family here at AMH!

Marvi and her husband, Joel, and son, Brandon, reside in Ewing. Brandon is a freshman at Summerland Public Schools. Marvi's hobbies include spending time with family, reading and shopping.

AMH's 2021 Caring Kind Award Winner


Crystal Smith, RN and supervisor, is the 2021 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital. She was recognized for the award on Tuesday, May 11th during National Hospital Week.

Each year, the Nebraska Hospital Association honors employees from hospitals across the state as "Caring Kind" employees. The honored employee must exemplify the spirit of someone who gives that "something special" to others.

Crystal was nominated and selected by her fellow AMH employees to win this prestigious award. Her nominations reflected the many positive qualities she brings to work each day. She has been employed at AMH for almost 10 years as a registered nurse, working on the floor. In 2017, she began serving as a supervisor.

Crystal's nomination describes her as being an exceptional nurse and awesome supervisor! She has a calming disposition which is a great quality to have during a crisis situation. She is professional and compassionate with the patients and works well with everyone. Plus, she is continuously working on projects to improve our care. AMH is very blessed to have such a wonderful person working for them!

"I feel truly blessed and honored to be chosen for this special award," said Crystal. "I work with very outstanding people who all reflect 'heartfelt kindness' for others. It is a privilege to work with them - as they are all supportive of one another and work well together in caring for our patients. I'm very proud to be a part of our AMH family - it's a very special place here!

Crystal and her husband, Justin, and sons, Damian and Tristan, reside in rural Meadow Grove. They are members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden. Justin is

employed by Beckenhauer Construction in Norfolk. Damian (age 18) recently graduated from Elkhorn Valley High School in Tilden and plans to attend Northeast Community College in Norfolk next fall, majoring in electromechanical technology. Tristan (age 16) will be a junior at EVHS next fall and enjoys cross country, wrestling, track and baseball. Crystal's hobbies include spending time with family and friends, camping and gardening.

AMH's 2020 Caring Kind Award Winner


Elizabeth (Liz) Furstenau, RN and infection control director, was chosen as the 2020 Caring Kind Award Winner of Antelope Memorial Hospital. She was recognized for the award at AMH on Tuesday, May 12th during National Hospital Week.

Each year, the Nebraska Hospital Association honors employees from hospitals across the state as "Caring Kind" employees. The honored employee must exemplify the spirit of someone who gives that "something special" to others.

Liz was nominated and selected by her fellow AMH employees to win this prestigious award. Her nominations reflected the many positive qualities she brings to work each day. She has been employed at AMH for almost 18 years as a registered nurse. In 2012, she began serving as the AMH Infection Control Director. In recent months, she has focused primarily on COVID-19 updates and preparedness at AMH. She has demonstrated great leadership in ensuring AMH's medical staff, administration and staff remain up-to-date, prepared and well-trained for dealing with possible exposure to COVID-19.

Liz's nomination described her as always having a smile on her face and a positive and caring attitude - even during these stressful times. She keeps the staff well-informed about the COVID-19 updates while always remaining calm and collected. She goes above and beyond to ensure all employees understand exactly what steps need to be taken to prevent any infection. She puts in extra-long days and takes the time to answer everyone's questions. She is a hard worker and team player. She always lends a helping hand when needed while having the goal to keep everyone safe. Liz is also very caring and kind when working with patients while striving for the best care possible for them.

Her big heart and beautiful smile always make everyone's day. She genuinely reflects the "caring kind" spirit!

"I feel truly blessed and honored to be chosen for this special award," said Liz. "Everyone has been wonderful to work with here at AMH through the years. I have enjoyed being a part of AMH - as the unity and teamwork found here is exceptional. Plus, we share a special camaraderie and friendship. AMH is truly a great place to work!"

Liz and her husband, Chad, and family reside in Tilden. He is employed at Hiland Dairy in Norfolk. They are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden and have a son, Walter (age 16), and a daughter, Anneka (age 14). Liz's hobbies include camping with her family, going for walks, kayaking, biking and swimming.

In October, Liz and CKA winners from hospitals across Nebraska were recognized with a video created by the Nebraska Hospital Association. (Due to COVID-19, the video was used to recognize the winners in place of hosting a luncheon.) Watch the video below (Liz is shown at the 2:12 mark):
