Surgical Scrub Tech - Surgery
The position of the Surgical Technologist entails functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing a safe environment for all age groups of surgical patients. The position includes working under the supervision and authority of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room(OR) and procedure room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Assists the perioperative nurse with patient care.
-Prepares and maintains supplies in the OR and procedure room while maintaining a professional and efficient manner.
-Assures that procedure preparations are based on individual patients and anticipates the needs of the surgeons.
-Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs, and core values of our facility.
-Functions in the scrub role by preparing, organizing, and anticipating instruments, supplies and equipment needed for safe patient care and operative procedures.
-Defines and practices aseptic technique and infection control principles as they apply to the OR.
-Safely and efficiently passes surgical instrument and supplies in the OR.
-Properly identifies preserves and manages tissue, fluid specimens and cultures.
-Manages supplies, instruments and equipment appropriately.
-Assists the nurse in perioperative care of the patient including transporting and positioning; counts/preps surgical instrument and supplies.
-Handles and prepares medications for use on the sterile field in the OR under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and physician.
-Participates in unit-based activities, staff meetings and committees.

Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program. Surgical Tech Certification desired. Prior experience working as a Surgical Technologist preferred. 30+ hours/week; days may vary. Rotating call and must be able to respond in 30 minutes.
